A person can spit 6ft away while talking?
I'm not sure. My understanding of it is the 6-foot rule was devised back in the 1920s. Basically the CDC guidelines are running off of really old information.

Well...my guess is they are spewing anything and everything they can to keep people in a state of fear until they win an election..and if not..they are going to continue this for awhile or until people just get fed up with living their lives in fear.

I actually have to agree with you lol, they should have been shipping hazmat suits to every home. This shit is definately airborne
Yes, there may even be multiple strains. One spreads through aerosols and one through respiratory droplets.

My main contention with the masks has always been due to the general feeling of "cheapness". It's like to the Government and Private sector our lives, and the lives of the elderly and vulnerable just aren't worth more than a cheap cloth mask.

Our whole purpose as Americans might simply be, to keep buying cheap garbage from China. That's all that matters. I mean just wait until China figures out how to stamp a whole person out of plastic for 3 cents a unit.

Maybe they are just clueless.

Like when in the history of the world did science ever show up, and be like "here's what's going down and how to fix it, but we don't really know anything for sure".

Maybe I'll buy that argument.

I don't think the Climate change folks ever come out and call themselves clueless in such a blunt fashion though.

It’s what the mask represents..fear. You got to the store and there’s fear in the air and that does something to a persons psyche to live like that. So ya, it does hurt you to wear a mask.
Everyone is scared. Hiding from your fears will not make coronavirus go away, tho. And besides, feeling scared doesn't give anyone the right to endangering others lives.

And if we are staying 6ft away from each other why do we need the mask? Why do we need to do both? Have a mask and stay 6ft away? Can’t those masks work up close? If not why do we need to wear them anyway?
People won't be 6ft away from each other all the time, in some circunstances this is not even possible. For example, I take the bus to my work everyday and unfortunately there's not enough space to be 6ft away from the others passengers.

That’s a valid argument..you should buy it.

No, they don’t call themselves clueless..but they make it harder for other scientists who don’t share their science.

How is not wearing a mask endangering others? I’m 6ft away and I don’t talk to you...how could I possibly endanger you with not wearing a mask?

Then wear your mask if you think it keeps you safe. I don’t think it really does and that’s why I’m not going to wear one if I don’t have to. I have had to wear one to get into the dentist office..go figure..lol! How stupid is that...and to get my hair cut. But I took it off the moment I got outside.

Incidentally, like I mentioned in another thread, Covid-19 can also enter the body through our moist eyeballs, causing conjunctivitis (sore itchy red eyes), and masks don't cover the eyes, so perhaps wearing glasses or sunglasses would offer some protection?
I wear glasses but still got conjunctivitis and some other possible C-19 symptoms a couple of weeks ago but they seem to have cleared up now..

If you got the virus without knowing and you aren't wearing a mask, you might infect other people. That's how you're endanger them.

How would I infect other people wearing a mask? Isn’t that why they are wearing the mask in the first place..to protect themselves?

You are not wrong. We have been using this plastic mask (have no idea how to call it in English, sorry) that covers our faces in my workplace. Some people are wearing safety glasses instead.

You misread me...if I’m not wearing a mask and you are...how am I endangering you? Aren’t you wearing a mask to protect yourself? If wearing a mask doesn’t work..why do we have to wear them at all?

From the article I suggest that you read:

"Masks may help reduce spread, but they are most effective when worn by those carrying the virus, and they must be used properly to protect others. There is currently no evidence that wearing a mask prevents healthy people from contracting respiratory infections, according to the WHO. However, people who show no symptoms from COVID-19 could still spread the disease, so the CDC has recommended the use of cloth masks in public."

Ok...but if you wear a mask then isn’t that protecting you? So, if I don’t wear one..how can I spread it to you..you’ve got a mask on!
