this is the thread to discuss wokism on television and in the theatre.

please include examples and the extent of wokeness for each entry.

woke shows and movies include, but are not limited to, anti-whitism, reverse racism, overrepresentation of minorities, anti-male, overt LGBTQIA+ propaganda where none of it belongs, blatant anti-conservative/anti-traditional, pro-liberal/left wing politics, etc.

handmaids tale

although very well directed, this is THE most woke show i have watched. the first few episodes are good... then its downhill fast. the show is a liberal dystopia/near futuristic nightmare where hard core christian men take over the US, turning back the clock on feminism 500 years. its really blatant...im not even christian but i was extremely offended for christians.

-christian men basically enslave the women, not allowing them to read nor write. the men control the entire country.
- gays, trans people, etc. all who could, fled the US and went to canada to seek asylum.
- the christians in the US label gays/lesbians as "gender traitors".
- the men suppress all other religions- there was an episode where a muslim had to hide his faith and the koran out of fear of being persecuted. (meanwhile in the real world, gays ARE thrown off of buildings in extremist muslim states, and i doubt they have tolerance for non-muslims there.)
- lots of overt interracial/gay relationships. interracial for the interracial-ness of it all.
- the christian men that run the US are 99% white of course (i saw one black guy in the big meeting).
- total knee jerk reaction to trumps election. that screaming lesbian saying "nooooooooo!" comes to mind.
- the conservative christians basically outlawed fun sex and turned it into this 'proper' sterile procedure.

there are a bunch of other points i will add later-- it was so over the top that i took notes while watching it.

the shows main message is, "this is what happens when the conservatives take over the united states."

woke level: 10/10
worth watching only to be flabbergasted at how woke it is.

The Boys:
  • Trump derangement syndrome (main villain is based on him which the writer has admitted)
  • Has literally an episode with an amusement park with woke stuff (like a restaurant named the "Woke wok") being portrayed as a kind of paradise
  • Same usual leftist tropes like Nazis/fascists being the evil that rules America, "toxic masculinity" etc.
The Sandman:
  • Practically every episode has at least one character who is gay/lesbian. In fact lgtbq+ characters seem to be something like 50% of all characters. Shows explicit gay scenes. With the creator having the name "Neil Gaiman" I guess he was fulfilling his destiny?
  • Male characters like Lucifer, Constantine and Morpheus' assistant being gender swapped
  • Many diverse characters replacing white ones
It's just kinda too bad because overall the story, the writing and the acting is pretty good but the stuff above ruins it all. I stopped watching after episode 6 because the gay scenes really grossed me out/disgusted me.

Netflix's Resident Evil:
  • Again all diverse characters demonstrate confidence, intelligence (especially the women) while others are portrayed as inferior
  • Men again portrayed as scum/useless (except when they are diverse)
  • Overall a shitshow which has been cancelled after just one season.
Rings Of Power:
  • Galadriel is the main focus and she is now a warrior who will save everyone.
  • Men shown as cowards
  • Suddenly there are diverse dwarves and elves when none were in Tolkien's work.
And again after watching 2 episodes, I did enjoy some parts of it, especially the acting of the diverse dwarf, which was decent, it's just her interviews that she did, she bragged and virtue signalled like crazy about an obese black woman "finally" being a "star" (where did she get that idea from anyway? And she plays a minor role) Also the CGI is very very well done, brings to life various fantasy locations. But with a billion dollars invested in this show I guess this is expected.

You want to watch this. Basically the guy was told white men cannot get entertainment jobs.

Other examples of woke.

Phantom of the opera has a black Christine. A role based around a very white woman.

I'm a history buff. Pretty much an expert on Tudor history and the latest offerings on Tudor entertainment has me rather angry

Recently in the UK they had a black woman play a very real and very white Anne Boleyn. I now want a white Martin Luther king

The latest movie on Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots not only bastardised history but the director openly says they refused to have an all white cast because hurt feelings. She's upset black actors don't get as many roles in ....checks note.. English court period pieces. So has black actors play white real people roles.

Disney have a black actor playing Ariel in the new little mermaid live action remake and my favourite, I can't not laugh at. A black actor playing snow white in the new live action remake. You know the character that is famous for having skin as white as snow

Yeah, Rings of Power I'll be completely skipping, and I like Lord of the Rings!!
Another show that is woke MOST of the time is the new Walker reboot. I was pleasantly surprised that some of the second season felt like an old fashioned crime drama, but then they brought in all the ethnics, including a black sheriff, and of course the women rangers. They always get praise, while the main character, Cordell Walker, gets flack from the sheriff! Just so stressed out. Oh, and Cordell's brother just so happens to be gay.. and both his kids are in interracial relationships. When the show is like this, I just can't tolerate it, sadly, and Jared Padalecki is one of my favourite actors. Sadly, he is used to promote the agenda, like every other media person out there.

Super natural went woke. I couldnt watch the older seasons. The first 5 seasons dean was a red blooded straight guy. No signs of being bi or gay. In the end he was in a quasi gay relationship with cas the angel. An angel who did not understand human emotions but was somehow in love with dead

Yeah sadly, it did go very woke. They even showed signs in the first season with the so called "racist truck" so dumb. I like some of the show, but yes, the whole thing with Dean and Cas kinda bothers me, too. Alot of it is subtext, to be totally fair, and it's the shippers that are blowing it way out of proportion,.but I'm sure the show writers did that on purpose.
And the show never knew how to handle women. They would either be really sexed up, or feminists, or both!

I like the first few seasons. The racist truck one could make sense to a point with the history down south. But when cas went from an emotionless angel - which was kinda finny- to being gay for dean. It lost its way. Unfortunately all the trans crowd and gender kids watch supernatural so they pandered

I don't know, it still felt like pandering to me lol I didn't like that episode even if it took place in the south seems they were trying to put their propaganda out already, and I just couldn't handle how women were represented. With that I still believe the writing was better in the first seasons and later they did get those types of fans with the changing of Cas and such, it just got worse as it still went on.. and it went on and on lol

Women in supernatural were really (and I hate this word) problematic. They were either over arrogant, idiots, or villains. I think the only one that was any good was the police officer who lost her son and husband and ended up a regular. The ghost car one wasnt to bad to me but different strokes different folks.

Oh yes, definitely! Couldn't agree more they are problematic, seems they had a hard time making a likable woman on that show.

I think they thought women being rude, aggressive, abusive and arrogant =strong woman.
yes...
the concept of constructing women into this neo-masculine ideal fits right in with the NWO transgender agenda. masculinize women on film, and turn men into women-- there are hoardes of men posing as women in hollywood. a transgender won miss nevada. so the best looking woman in the state of nevada is actually a man.

i have no problem with a women in a tough role as long as its not at the expense of men and the women retain their femininity. the example i am thinking of brianna or targ(?) from game of thrones. strong and warrior-like, yet she had a soft side.

Lady Brienne was such an excellent character. Rather than the typical woke obnoxious caricature of a "strong woman", she exuded a quiet strength and humility. She was brave but had faults and doubts just like the rest of us.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST. I cannot describe how bad it was - I wouldn't even know where to start. Virtue signalling, white male and Christian bashing from start to finish. SO sorry I invested any time in it, but after a few episodes in I kind of felt I needed to finish it. Nope, I should not have done that.

The really depressing part?? Rotten Tomatoes -
Critic reviews: 98%
User reviews: 87%

Yes, I know critic reviews are bought, and user reviews can be trolled, but user reviews also tend to be more balanced when something is really bad. Either Rotten Tomatoes is lying, or it appears that loads of people might actually like season 3.

That's so much the issue with the media and entertainment, these days. They always have to make the same female characters over and over again. We get it. And we don't like it, either. The women characters start to lose substance and don't really have many layers as a character if it's going to be the same trope over and over again. They also love to change our biology, and always make us stronger than men. Doesn't make sense!

This trailer came on the other day. I havent watched the film, nor have any intention of watching.

If the queen of England is now black to appease wokeness, why is this woman king not white? Or even any of her subjects?

But as this article explains, it's historically inaccurate and woke regardless
The Woman King is an upcoming historical epic piece centered on Gen. Nanisca of the Dahomey Amazons of the Kingdom of Dahomey. It tells the tale of the valiant efforts of Nanisca to fight off Europeans who were intent on taking over Africa. But, while the movie is advertised in its trailer as "based on powerful true events," it seems to take great liberties with historical truths and facts — as is typically the woke Left's way. By all available accounts, based on synopses and trailers available to the public, the movie is cinematic fake news and a disinformation machine.

The Woman King seems to ignore blatantly the brutality and savagery of the Kingdom of Dahomey, the empire from which Viola Davis's main character Gen. Nanisca hails. Instead, it features the typical left-wing propaganda and tropes of the evil, white, oppressive colonizer coming for the utopian Africans in the Kingdom of Dahomey.
...
But, in reality, Dahomey was an empire built on the backs of African slaves. The kingdom used conquest and slave labor, two major red flags for the rabid-Left social justice indoctrinators, for its own benefit. At least, they are red flags when it was white people who did them.

The Kingdom of Dahomey was a strong African military power that attacked and imperialized its African neighbors. It captured and enslaved the men, women, and children to enhance its wealth and luxuries. It brutally tortured and murdered some slaves, while others, it willingly sold to Europeans in the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Whatever slaves weren't sold or executed worked on the Dahomey Kingdom's royal plantations in Africa.

Additionally, the Kingdom of Dahomey was a willing accomplice in the trans-Atlantic slave trade, a fact at least the trailer of the movie seems to ignore. Perhaps the movie will ultimately reveal this. My assumption is if it does, it will merely be in passing and not a significant plot point of the film. It seems to focus more on Gen. Nanisca trying to fight off French colonizers than the people who were murdered, captured, and enslaved under Nanisca.

It's fine to want to make historical epics that focus on African figures. Yet, if Hollywood starts telling more of these stories, then it needn't shy away from the truth. And the harsh reality is, whether the left-wing elitists and sycophants in Hollywood want to admit it or not, the African slave trade started in Africa, because of Africans, and was used to make African kings very wealthy.

The truth will make the wokest of the woke cringe, but the fact remains that African kings and queens used slaves to enhance their lives and profits the way many plantation owners did in North America.
I've been looking for a thread to post this on!

Oh this is totally cringe. They always have to switch the narrative and make the white people look like jerks. This kind of goes with the whole African slaves in America thing where it was the Africans who sold them to America in the first place. But of course, most will call the whites the racist ones!
And what's with the term "woman king"? I've seen this a few times in the last couple of decades where they say a woman is a 'king". That term is generally used for men in the monarch power, that's why the term queen exists.
