Scripture engaged Christians 'flourish in every domain of human experience': survey

New research conducted by the American Bible Society reveals that Christians heavily engaged with the Bible and their faith “flourish in every domain of human experience.”

The American Bible Society released Chapter 3 of its State of the Bible 2023 reportThursday, titled “Flourishing and Hope.” Data in the State of the Bible report is based on 2,761 responses collected from U.S. adults between Jan. 5-30. It has a margin of error of +/- 2.59 percentage points.

“Our research confirms something millions of Christians know through personal experience—that the Bible has the power to transform our lives and make us happier, healthier, and whole,” said American Bible Society Chief Ministry Insights and Innovation Officer John Farquhar Plake. “We find that Christians who are committed to their faith, fully engaged in the Bible and transformed by its message, flourish in every domain of human experience.”

According to Plake, “While these scripture-engaged Christians go through the same hardships as everyone else, the difference is they experience life’s ups and downs through a worldview shaped by the Bible’s message of hope. No matter the circumstances, those who trust in God and connect with him through Scripture are happier than those who haven’t yet sought God in his Word.”

... and yet illegals walk across the border and get free goodies? This story is INSANE. Literal insanity and evil allowed to rule at the highest levels. Beyond disgusting and abhorrent.

I have followed Torben’s case during the year he spent in prison - after a while it felt like he would never get out… then he did!!!

1930's Germany vs. Today: What's the difference? Apparently not a thing.

I have often wondered how pre-WWII Christians dealt with watching such utter darkness and evil unfold right before their eyes with no end in sight and the majority of a country [Germany] cheering it on. I've thought how horrible it must have been to see the rise of absolute mindless hatred directed at certain groups marked for death for no reason other than being Jews or Roma or Black while the general German populace thinks nothing of participating in the holocaust or pretending it wasn't happening.

Well, now I know. From antifa/blm [brownshirts] and the progressive left to the current rabid anti-semitism and move towards open violence against anyone who doesn't agree with them, there is nothing new under the sun.

After seeing the attack by Hamas - who gleefully went after defenseless babies, children, and women like the cowards they are and then bragged about it afterwards - and the celebrations and approval of their actions [including on this forum], it's clear we are living through another global cycle of pure evil. I'm not going to get into the 'end times' discussion because just like the 30's and 40's, we don't know how this will end.

I really cannot wrap my head around the abhorrent evil of people who would celebrate the mass murder and r*pe committed, no matter what their feelings are about Israel. These are citizens, not military combatants. While Israel is in no way innocent, the attack on Saturday is a new provocation beyond words. Hamas has left Israel with no choice but to defend itself and wipe them out for the sake of their own people.

I hope Christians who thought there could be common ground will wake up and understand there can be no alliance between Christianity and Islam. Preach the gospel to them and show Christian mercy and grace? Yes. Yoke ourselves with a religion that rejects Jesus Christ and consistently calls for worldwide extermination of infidels? No.

No matter which way this war goes, God's will be done.

it’s quite clear this is a spiritual issue. The sentiment of anti Israel is rooted in antichrist from a very anti Christian religion.. Islam

As a matter of curiosity, how many decades would you let your family be locked in a neighborhood where water is cut off a few days per week, after you've pulled your child out of a bombed out apartment building or been having been shot by a sniper for venturing too near the boarder, before you did something about it? Not to condone violence by the Hamas, but I assume you would let your family be killed around you and not do anything about it, you are saying?

You seem awfully indignant about any retaliation when a minority is oppressed with no course but to let themselves be regularly bombed in their civil centers.

@Lurking009 I assume you know also that collective punishment is part of Israeli military policy against Gaza, and any resistance to their condition is met with bombing of known non military targets, in fact I see you are calling for more of this in your post. What stance of moral indignation are you left with? An example od hypocrisy in its most blatant sense
